In alternating current (AC) electrical systems, fractional horsepower electric motors, and advanced power electronics, the 4 Mfd (microfarad) capacitor acts as a cornerstone component. Primarily configured as a motor run capacitor, it continuously shifts the phase difference in the motor auxiliary windings to maintain optimum torque, high efficiency, and minimal heat generation. As global machinery designs transition toward higher energy efficiency classes (such as IE3 and IE4), the electrical parameters of capacitive components must be controlled within exceptionally tight margins.
Dynalink’s ODM 4 Mfd capacitors utilize metallized polypropylene film (MPPF) as the primary dielectric material. During production, a microscopic layer of zinc and aluminum (typically 20 to 50 nanometers in thickness) is vacuum-deposited directly onto the film surface. This process introduces a critical performance benefit: self-healing. When a localized dielectric breakdown occurs due to transient overvoltage spikes, the localized fault current rapidly vaporizes the thin metal layer surrounding the point of failure. This isolates the short-circuit site and restores the insulation resistance within microseconds, preserving the component’s operational integrity.
To accommodate industrial operations, our designs utilize either oil-filled casing or dry epoxy resin encapsulations. The oil-filled layout provides excellent heat dissipation properties, making it well-suited for heavy-duty HVAC compressors. Meanwhile, dry epoxy resin housing offers a compact footprint, ideal for miniature pumps, high-speed fans, and space-constrained electronics.
